CSO Chief Science Officer Of Tridan Innovation, Dr. Marchand is a former associate professor in the department of microbiology and immunology at the University of Montreal. He taught immunology at the postgraduate level and the biotechnological applications of molecular immunology. He was the founder and the director of the flow cytometry laboratory for 10 years and was a microbiologist in the serology and cellular immunology laboratory at Ste-Justine Hospital for 13 years. At the University of Montreal and the École Polytechnique, he is a lecturer on the biocompatibility within the study program in biomedical engineering. He is interested in body defense reactions, biocompatibility and sterilization of biomaterials used in the construction of medical instruments and implants. Physician specializing in medical microbiology, internal medicine and diseases infections, he also directs the microbiology laboratory in the Department of Biology Medical Center of the Montreal Heart Institute since 1997. Dr. Marchand completed his training in medicine in 1980 at the University of Montreal. He obtained his specialty certification in Internal Medicine in 1984 and in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases in 1986. He has directed the Cellular Immunology Lab. at Ste-Justine Hospital in Montreal and the Flow cytometry Unit at the University of Montreal from 1989 to 1997.

Since 1997 he oversees the Microbiology lab. of the Department of Medical Biology at the Montreal Heart Institute, where he also practices Infectious Diseases. As an Assistant Professor of medicine and an Associate Professor at the Ecole Polytechnique of Montreal (Engineering school), he directs several students to Master and Ph.D. degrees. His research interests are in the fields of sterilization, disinfection of medical devices, and biocompatibility issues. In 2016 (to 2019) he was assigned by the minister of Health of Quebec to a mandate of 3 years as Assistant Chief Medical Microbiologist to Quebec Public Health Laboratory (LSPQ) to supervise the development and implementation of the mandatory Quality Control Program of the Province of Quebec clinical laboratories. He is also director of Cirion Biopharma Research microbiology laboratory since 1996 and Lab Director of Cirion since 2011.
